Wish I had more exciting news to report, but the life and death of living has kept me busy as of late.
I went home to the Pacific Northwest to visit my mother, who had a serious surgery (any surgery can be serious at 94 years of age), and I caught the germ. I ended up having an appendicitis attack, and I had my appendix out. So pretty much the last month or two have been spent dealing with ailments and traveling back and forth to the US.
I am settled, and getting more so every day, back in San Miguel de Allende...central high plateau Mexico. Life couldn't be sweeter.
We have a very comfortable apartment a block from the town square (the jardin), and we are gradually gathering furniture of our own and appliances to make life a lot more "luxurious".
No trips on the immediate horizon, except of course returning to the Pacific Northwest to visit my family in May. But I'm tossing around a couple-three options. I have never been to Guatemala, Chile or Argentina, and I'm trying to decide which one I want to try first.
I figure when we head to Chile and Argentina, we'll have to plan to stay awhile, as it's so far away, and I believe in making the airfare worthwhile.
But in the meantime, we'll be planted here in San Miguel, planting flowers and getting more settled as time passes. The weather is fantastic, and the life is a slow and comfortable one to slip into, especially if you are from the States and live in the rat-race world.
